Greenfield - Burton Mine Complex
BUMA Australia have been awarded the contract to develop and mine several satellite pits that are near the old Burton Mine. Coal extracted at these satellite pits will be transported and processed through the Burton CHPP and railed from the onsite Train Load Out facility. Burton coal is world renowned for its high-quality coking coal and is well sought after in the global export markets.
BUMA Australia provides a range of services and equipment at our projects including heavy mobile plant, labour, supervision and technical support, drill/blast and statutory roles.
Job description:
As BUMA Australia grows, we are seeking a HST Superintendent to join our Burton Mine Complex. As a Superintendent, reporting to the site Project Manager, you will have strong leadership skills and the ability to positively influence our safety culture. Your ability to lead by example, be proactive and prioritise will be critical to your success. This position is on a 5/2/4/3 roster (every second Friday is an RDO).
Primary objectives of the role will be:
• Provide advice and assistance to all employees, in particular senior and middle management, in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.
• Manage and empower the HST team.
• Continuous improvement to the site SHMS.
• Working collaboratively with other department superintendents, managers and Business Functions.
• Building a strong relationship and communicating effectively on matters within the site team, business and Client.
Profile description:
About You:
• Tertiary qualifications in a health and safety discipline - degree qualification preferred (Advanced Diploma minimum).
• Minimum of 7 years' experience working in the mining industry. Open cut experience would be highly favoured (although other mining backgrounds will be considered).
• Current driver's licence.
• Competent computer user with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work with remote teams and varied stakeholders.
• Critical Risk Management and Control Verification knowledge.
• Knowledge of the mining industry's regulations and legislation relating to health and safety would be well regarded.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to negotiate and liaise with site personnel.
• Ability to build rapport with site-based leaders and workforce.
