Human Resources manager
Australian Textile Mills (ATM) is the premier Australian textile manufacturing company, leading the way in the manufacture and supply of innovative and decorative textiles including window furnishings and high performance, life protective fabrics. Australian Textile Mills are in Wangaratta in Northeast Victoria.
ATM require a Human Resources Manager to work as part of the management team in our Wangaratta plant. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for supplying HR services across the group of companies - Bruck Textiles, AWM Management Services, and Wilson Fabrics
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Develop and Update HR Policies and Procedures
- Working within industry best practices and organsational needs in developing new policies. communicate policies and procedures to employees.
- Overview time and attendance records, payroll records, documentation.
- Educate employees on their rights and responsibilities, including topics like anti-discrimination, harassment, and bullying prevention.
- Perform regular audits to assess the organization's compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Review HR processes, practices, documentation, and records to identify any areas of non-compliance.
- Ensure accurate Record-Keeping to support compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain personnel files, performance evaluations, and training records.
- Manage WorkCover / Return to work activities.
- Resume Screening: Reviewing resumes and applications to shortlist candidates who meet the required qualifications and skills.
- Selection and Job Offers: Collaborating with hiring managers to make final decisions on candidate selection and extending job offers to successful candidates.
- Creating and posting job advertisements on various platforms to attract qualified candidates.
- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements during the recruitment and onboarding process, such as equal employment opportunity laws and immigration regulations.
- Completing site inductions as required
- Coordinating background checks, reference checks, and verification of employment history to ensure the accuracy of information provided by candidates.
- Facilitating the onboarding process for new hires, which includes completing necessary paperwork, conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
- Managing the documentation process, such as employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, and other necessary paperwork.
- Overview of Occupational Health and Safety across the sites
Qualifications / Experience
- A formal qualification in Human Resources is essential.
- A formal qualification in Business management and training in Workcover / Return to Work requirements is desirable.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer
