Who is GBK?
Gur A Baradharaw Kod Sea and Land Council Torres Strait Islander Corporation (“GBK”) was established in 2012 as the peak body of all Registered Native Title Bodies Corporates (“PBCs”) in the Torres Strait. GBK is a not-for- profit organisation that works together with the PBCs in our region to provide support to the Native Title Holders.
About the Role
As the Human Resource Manager at GBK, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all HR functions, including employee relations, training and development, performance planning, performance management, compliance, hr strategies, and reporting. This is an incredible opportunity to lead and shape our HR initiatives, contributing to the growth and success of our organisation.
Initial Key focus areas include:
- Designing and implementing comprehensive capability development frameworks that align with the GBK's strategic goals.
- Identifying current and future skills gaps and developing strategies to address them through targeted training and development programs.
- Collaborating with department heads to create tailored development plans for employees at all levels.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of capability development initiatives and adjusting programs as needed to ensure maximum impact.
- Leading the development and execution of the company's performance management processes.
- Developing and implementing performance review cycles, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and annual appraisals.
- Providing training and support to managers on effective performance management techniques, including giving constructive feedback and setting measurable goals.
- Analysing performance data to identify trends and recommending interventions to enhance overall employee performance and productivity.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree-qualified HR professional with extensive experience as an HR Generalist/Advisor/Consultant.
- Proven track record of managing HR functions for organisations with over 50 staff.
- Experience working with First Nation communities is essential, as well as demonstrating cultural sensitivity and understanding.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Experience with Employment Hero (preferably HR and Payroll Platforms) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work away from home overnight, remotely and interstate for various periods depending on the requirements of the project/activity. These trips may be required every month.
- Current Queensland ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- Current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain
