Job description

Welcome to Yura Yungi Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (YYMS), where we provide primary health care services to Aboriginal populations in Halls Creek and surrounding areas. Located in the heart of the Kimberley region, Halls Creek is a vibrant hub for pastoralists, Aboriginal communities, and travellers. With its rich cultural scene and proximity to natural wonders like the Bungle Bungle ranges and Wolfe Creek Meteorite Crater, Halls Creek offers endless exploration opportunities in the Australian outback, just a stone's throw away from Darwin, Broome, and Alice Springs.

About the opportunity:

Yura Yungi Medical Service Aboriginal Corporation (YYMS) is searching for a full-time Human Resources Manager based in Halls Creek, WA, to play a vital role in expanding into aged care and growing staff numbers from 50 to 80.

As a senior leader reporting to the CEO, you'll be responsible for strategic HR advisory services, ensuring compliance with workplace legislation, and nurturing a positive organizational culture. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing HR management consultancy and supporting organizational development
  • Leading and guiding the HR team in line with our vision and values
  • Monitoring team progress, facilitating performance discussions, and offering feedback to employees
  • Addressing conflicts and grievances following organizational policies
  • Promoting a safe and healthy work environment, particularly focusing on mental health
  • Conducting staff audits, submitting compliance reports, and participating in audits
  • Managing the organization's Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Learning Management System (LMS)
Why you're the perfect fit:

We seek someone with a robust background in HR or related fields and a profound understanding of Aboriginal culture. With a minimum of 5 years in HR management, you'll adeptly navigate the intricacies of our unique culture.

Your standout attributes:

  • Genuine compassion, passion, and empathy for working with Aboriginal communities
  • A desire to fully engage with and learn from Aboriginal culture at every opportunity
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills, essential for addressing complex issues effectively
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself, or already adept, with the standards of residential aged care, ensuring our community's warmth and safety.

This role isn't just a job; it's a calling for a leader prepared to merge professional prowess with a deep personal commitment to our mission. If you're eager to make a tangible impact and ready for a journey marked by growth, learning, and heart, we're excited to meet you.

The benefits:

Joining our team comes with a wealth of benefits. Alongside a competitive salary starting at circa $135,000 (depending on experience), you'll have access to salary packaging options up to $30,000. Additionally, we offer:

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Relocation assistance of up to $5,000
  • Fully-furnished housing
  • Work vehicle provided
  • Annual airfares allowance of up to $2,000
  • Generous leave entitlements, including 6 weeks annual leave and up to 2 weeks of special leave per year

While encountering diverse challenges, you'll thrive in our close-knit and supportive work environment. This is an exceptional chance to contribute to Aboriginal health while advancing your career and cultural knowledge in the breathtaking outback.

People of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, advance your career and enhance your cultural knowledge in a stunning outback location. Make a positive difference — Apply Now!
