  • Play an integral part in building culturally secure relationships with Indigenous communities and partners, ensuring that they are listened to, and the relationship is collaborative and responsive. 
  • Coordinate our Indigenous Menstrual Health Initiative to place our product donations to Indigenous communities and charity partners across the country including rural and remote locations. 
  • Contribute positively to the impact Share the Dignity creates across Australia. 
  • Be part of a supportive, close-knit team on the north side of Brisbane, where no two days are the same. 

Share the Dignity is passionate about our work helping women, girls and those who have a period, who are in need and eliminating period poverty in Australia. As a relatively young charity (9 years old), there are still so many ways to grow and improve what we do – and we are looking for people who would relish the challenge of being a part of this phase. 

TheIndigenous Menstrual Health Coordinator is a new full time, permanent position within our Service Operations team. Reporting to Share the Dignity’s Service Operations Manager and working closely with the Founder and Managing Director, the Indigenous Menstrual Health Coordinator will ensure effective running of our Indigenous Menstrual Health Initiative throughout the year. On a day-to-day basis this looks like relationship building with Indigenous communities and organisations, coordinating the collection and distribution of period products to Indigenous communities, and keeping track of our impact with regular review of data and reporting. 

We are looking for someone who can bring their enthusiasm, strong communication skills, eye for detail and coordination skills to our established Indigenous Menstrual Health and Sponsor a Bag initiatives and any other Service Operations initiatives as may be delegated. This role will be fast-paced, exciting and rewarding! 

DUTIES INCLUDE 

  • Enhance our Indigenous Menstrual Health Initiative by identifying and building relationships with Indigenous communities, strong Indigenous women, and with charity partners who support Indigenous communities across Australia 
  • Coordinating distribution of in-kind donations, temporary storage requirements and means of accessing communities to collect and deliver Indigenous Menstrual Health Initiative products 
  • Coordinating Indigenous Menstrual Health program and Reconciliation Action Plan deliverables and initiatives  
  • Reporting and analysis of the Indigenous Menstrual Health Initiative and Service Operations programs 
  • Provide direction, guidance and support with queries and/or communications to key stakeholders with the Service Operations Team 
  • Provide general support and assistance to the Service Operations team as directed from time to time. 

Being adaptable, flexible and responsive to changing circumstances is a must. As is your ability to establish warm, respectful and culturally secure relationships with all stakeholders of Share the Dignity and communicate effectively in person, via email and using online communication tools. 

You proactively identify opportunities for improvement and work collaboratively with other teams to solve problems and develop processes. You can manage multiple competing priorities with a professional, positive approach and are confident to adjust plans and priorities accordingly. You are able to see the bigger picture and can recognise and be responsive to different experiences, perspectives, cultures, values and beliefs. 

To be a successful candidate you will: 

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories and contemporary issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Indigenous communities. 
  • Hold a degree qualification or demonstrated previous experience and expertise in a similar role with project management experience and engagement. 
  • Have wide experience in community engagement, specifically Indigenous or culturally diverse groups including stakeholder liaison and management. 
  • Possess Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills. 
  • Have demonstrated experience in coordinating a project from inception to completion and to keep on top of key dates/tasks in a large project including reporting and monitoring budgets. 
  • Pride yourself on your high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to provide an exceptional level of customer service to a wide and diverse range of stakeholders. 

DESIRABLE SKILLS 

  • Previous experience in not-for-profit environment 
  • Knowledge or prior experience using Smartsheets 
  • Experience working with volunteers 

Juggling a varied workload with competing timeframes and an ability to be calm and responsive under pressure are key to your ongoing success.
