Infrastructure Administrator- Vmware & Unix

Role Overview-

We are looking for a VMWare and Unix Admin on a full-time basis to assist with design, implementation, migration, BAU and support activities within our growing internal infrastructure and customer environments.

A responsible person will be delivering high quality outcomes, and ensuring self-performing to maximum potential while continuously developing strong stakeholder relationships with client key stakeholders across all customers.

Roles and responsibilities-

• Daily management and monitoring of infrastructure
• Point of call for remediation and/or resolution of events that require hands on within the environment, whether at site or in a Data Centre.
• Improve and maintain the speed and efficiency of existing platforms, with a mindset for continuous improvement.
• Perform scheduled and regular patching and upgrades of the platforms including Document all changes to ensure open understanding of the platform within the business work as part of the Infrastructure team.
• After hours work will occasionally be required as deemed necessary.
• Be part of oncall rotation (optional)

Competencies-

Technical-

• Strong Skills in VMware 6.7+, Including ESXi, vCenter Server with demonstrated experience to show having built servers from scratch
• Strong Hardware skills including Hyperconverged infrastructure, rack servers, storage (ISCSI and Fibre)
• Networking knowledge around VMware vswitch technology, VLAN and server to switch connectivity.
• Strong Datacentre management and operations background
• Desirable knowledge with vCloud Director, vSAN, NSX
• Knowledge of vRealize/Aria suite including Operations, Log, Network.
• 4+ years’ experience as a Unix Administrator and or similar position.
• Experience across Linux/Unix infrastructure and administration activities.
• Experience working across open-source apps / enterprise infrastructure systems.
• Delivering in a similar Unix focused role.
• Operational Support / BAU experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Strong understanding of Security within Systems (Unix Admin, Sys Admin, Linux, Network Infrastructure)

• Excellent written and verbal skills to clearly explain concepts to diverse stakeholders
• Must be able to identify leads with the Sales team and assist with the development those leads to attain further opportunities and ongoing work.
• Understanding of utilisation goals and ability to proactively manage to the desired outcome.
• Strong understanding of arrangements for small to large projects and able to demonstrate value of service offerings to clients.
• Ability to articulate desired state outcomes for clients and the ROI delivered through engagements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience-

• A Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in VMWare, Unix & related technologies.
• Has worked in a team of individuals in a cloud and infrastructure environment.
• Ability to articulate business implications and risks in relation to the business.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain concepts.
• Open-minded and forward-thinking in terms of vision for the business and team culture.
• Ability to work as a team with decisions made to support moving toward common goals.
• Professional certifications are an advantage
• Experience working in a Pre-Sales function would be advantageous but not mandatory.
