About the Opportunity

Infringement and Compliance Officer

Do you want a role that offers something different every single day? We have a temporary 12-month job share opportunity for an Infringement and Compliance Officer.

Our Prosecutions team strives to set new standards in community enforcement and safety. This rewarding role is on the front line of services offered by Council to the local community with a broad spectrum of responsibilities.

As our Infringement and Compliance Officer, you will provide service excellence in the administration of functions relating to Infringement Management and infringement review processes relating to internal reviews and correspondence. You will also assist in the delivery of the regulatory and enforcement functions of the wider City Safety & Health department – in particular the delivery of the prosecutions functions of Council for unpaid infringements through the Magistrate’s Court or Fines Victoria.

Remuneration

This is a Band 6 classified role for 22 hours per week – flexible spread of hours available. Remuneration starts from $89,229 to $100,461 (on a pro rata basis) depending on experience, plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will need to thrive

  • Demonstrated experience or capacity to act as a delegate of Council performing functions relating to infringement review processes in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with the public across a range of complex and challenging situations, particularly with regard to complex infringement matters and enforcement activities.
  • Preparing complex correspondence and formal documentation such formal notices and policy within a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in solving problems and negotiating outcomes when dealing with challenging customers, preferably in a regulatory environment.
  • Experience in investigation and enforcement with the ability to interpret and apply legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience or capacity to share in the lead of the prosecution process for unpaid infringements, including the preparation of documents, attendance at Court and dealing with accused persons.
