About the Job
Under direction of the Inside Sales Team Leader, Australia & New Zealand, the Inside Sales associate role is responsible for generating, growing and maximizing World Courier’s business opportunities and sales to drive the overall sales revenue and profitability of the organization.
Key objectives include to;
- Develop new and sustainable business within designated portfolio areas to ensure the achievement of individual key performance indicators and overall success of the organization.
- Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for partnership growth to increase the profitability and return on investment in each relationship.
- Represent World Courier in a professional manner that builds upon the already robust reputation of the organization.
- Actively engaging with new and existing business opportunities, delivering solutions.
KEY CHALLENGES:
- Consistently meeting business development key performance indicators.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge around all World Courier service offerings.
- Identifying new growth areas and markets to be explored, developing a strong pipeline.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales
- Identify potential clients to be targeted for sales and marketing activities.
- Manage own workload, schedules and client calls ensuring the achievement of established key performance indicators.
- Manage and maintain a budget within the designated Business Development portfolio area to ensure sales objectives are met and costs are controlled.
- Develop a cross-selling program for each client to cover all services offered by World Courier to enhance business growth opportunities.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline that reflects your targets ensuring growth for the company. To be reviewed with the Inside Sales Team Leader Quarterly.
- Implement and maintain a client database to ensure all documentation, and CRM, are kept accurate and up to date at all times.
Building and Maintaining Relationships
- Develop ongoing communications with each key client and undertake regular meetings to ensure continued client satisfaction and opportunities to grow the relationships are identified.
- In instances of service failures, represent World Courier to clients to ensure appropriate resolutions are offered and strong partnerships continued.
Marketing
- Keep updated with trends, changes and intelligence within designated portfolios and feedback information to the Inside Sales Team Leader to ensure the ongoing competitiveness of World Courier.
- Conducting surveys to benefit the directions of World Courier.
Reports and Statistics
- Provide weekly Business Development reports around activities conducted, pipeline opportunities, new business secured, and ongoing relationships confirmed to the Inside Sales Team Leader.
- Establish a tailored system of measurement for portfolio, to monitor the profitability of each relationship and present findings to the Inside Sales Team Leader on a quarterly basis.
Internal Communication and Information Sharing
- Provide information to all WCA business units to ensure work output is coordinated in an effective manner.
- Contribute to team and organizational wide discussions by sharing ideas, experiences and recommendations around improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the business.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Support other BD with case study sharing, joint calls, experiences, and contribute to discussions.
Policy and Procedure
- Comply with Business Development standard operating procedures and overall organizational policies and procedures to ensure that the function is demonstrating consistent practices nationally and is in line with strategic objectives.

- Take reasonable care of, and cooperate with actions taken to protect; the health and safety of both themselves and others.
- Report all accidents, incidents and hazards to their supervisor as soon as is practicable.
What are we looking for?
Experience & Educational Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Logistics, or related area.
- Demonstrated experience meeting key performance indicators.
- Strong experience in a sales role.
- Significant experience in the freight forwarding or science/laboratory industry.
- High level of computer literacy; sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
