St John of God Geelong Hospital St John of God Hospital Geelong is a 253 bed hospital and is recognised as the leading provider of private health care in the Barwon and South-Western region. The hospital provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services.Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital The Grade 4Instrument Technician performs a senior role in CSD. They are expected to carry out all the duties of the Grade 3 Instrument tech (processing, autoclaving and distributing sterile supplies to all internal and external customers) with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. In addition, the Grade 4Instrument Technician is required to actively assist in staff training, supervising, mentoring and performance management.This position will be offered on a permanent full time basis, working 76 hours per fortnight The PositionResponsible for processing, autoclaving and distributing sterile supplies to all internal and external customers.Liaise with all staff in the Operating Suite to assist with the provision of individual holistic care to ensure the highest standard of safe and skilled practice is provided which is consistent with the established objectives of the Nursing Department.Deputise for the CSD Manager and provide holiday relief, with the support and assistance of the Operating Suite NUM.Able to become an integral member of a nursing team to provide optimal patient care for all patients at St John of God Healthcare Berwick, their families and significant others.Seek information on any work they undertake and be aware of the risks and hazards associated with their work.Facilitates regular servicing of inventory and equipment within the SSU area.Participation in the validation of CSD equipment. You will have a Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services and understanding of legislation and standards related to OH&S, Compliance issues, Infection Control, and WorkCover To succeed you will have to communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.
