We are looking for an experienced Japanese Cuisine Chef to join our Japanese restaurant and will provide a supportive environment for our team.
Our restaurant is committed to preparing and presenting high quality dishes and services to meet and exceed our customer expectations and we are a well-known restaurant showcasing trendy and traditional Japanese food.
Position: Chef
Responsible for ensuring that the standard and quality of the food preparation, production, presentation that it is within budgetary limitations, co-ordinating and supervising of daily work activities of staff, maintaining highest level of work safety at all times. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude to manage and operate restaurant in a sustainable and profitable.
Main Tasks and Duties:
- Maintains customer’s satisfaction by providing high quality service and food
- Plans menus by consulting with restaurant manager/ management teams
- Accomplishes human resource objectives for the kitchen by recruiting
- Achieves restaurant operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
- Meets restaurant financial objectives by forecasting requirements
- Publicizes the restaurant by designing and placing advertisements
- Responsible and maintains safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures during the kitchen operation
- Ensuring all dishes is prepared as per food presentation requirement
- Ensuring all dishes are served on time
- Designing and developing menus to reflect the quality and standard of Sooo Sushi
- Paying attention to seasonal/ event availability and preparing to constantly improve menus appropriate for customer satisfaction
- Identifying customer preferences
- Presenting nutritionally balanced food in an appetizing and attractive manner at the high level of standards
- Maintain stock levels for all kitchen supplies, conducting regular stock takes, ensuring stock utilisation and beverage stocks are sufficient to meet demand
- Ensuring all stock appropriate stored in the dry store, cool room and freezer
- Control and minimise waste, to support the produce the menus
- Inspecting the stocks for damages, quality and use by dates
- Checking all menus/labour costs are correctly calculated to ensure maximise profit
- Assist Junior staffs and evaluate and review their tasks during the kitchen operations
- Overseeing and estimating the daily kitchen running and organising supplement.
- Preparing purchasing lists and selecting the items as a priority, spending amount in the budget
- Ordering food materials/ingredients
- Checking the cost of delivered items are correctly charged and examined the qualities and quantities of the items
- Keeping the good relationship with suppliers and (handling)/solving issues with supplies
- Regularly visiting fresh fish/vegetable/fruit/meat market with head chef in order to remain informed on new and seasonal produces
- Keeping the last trends of food styles and taste
- Checking the reservation percentages and preparing extra working staffs, ingredients and tables (if needs)
- Noting the number of items is sold, and which menu are less favourable or more popular.
- Suggesting any idea to make popularizing the less favourable dishes
- Monitoring customer’s satisfaction after the serving the dishes
- Any complaint from customers, handling the issues
Core Capabilities:
Qualified chef with over 2-3 years’ experience in the kitchen operation in a variety of hospitality venues
Diploma of Hospitality, or equivalent
Works willingly as part of the team and supervise a team
Excellent problem-solving skills
Client and quality focus
Ability to motivate staff and provide leadership
Has a positive, cheerful attitude
General Information:
Must be PR or Citizen
Full Time Position
Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 +super
