The Think Group of Companies are an Australian owned and operated Commercial enterprise which includes Companies such as NightOwl Convenience, Think Commercial, Benson Hotel etc. The group deals with the business of commercial property acquisition, leasing, franchising and retail. NightOwl alone presently has over 85 stores, consisting of a combination traditional convenience and convenience petroleum.
About the role
The successful applicant will have exposure to the whole commercial, leasing, property acquisition, contracts management and franchising for all of the Group of companies. Whilst you will be assisted by other legal professionals within the team and will liaise and collaborate with a reputed external legal panel of solicitors and legal professionals, you would be expected to bring your own expertise and experience to the role. The geographical footprint spans operations across the States of Queensland, Northern NSW and Western Australia. We have offices based in Cairns and Brisbane and would consider applications in either area.
This position works with a dynamic, collaborative and growing team and has a great environment.
The role requires 3 years post admission experience in general commercial and property law.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee all legal and transactional work across the Group’s Companies and ensure legal compliance
- To formulate best practices and procedures for all franchising and leasing transactions to be taken up by Group and to ensure legislative compliance.
- Liaising with our existing highly reputed external legal panel with all matters under consultation.
- Provide subject matter legal advice and opinion on a wide range of commercial and property related matters / cases.
- Review and prepare, with the assistance of the team all Drafts and documentation for leases, licenses, franchise agreements, and other contracts.
- Coordinate and Liaise with all key personal in Group company including the Director in order to ensure the Companies are all legally compliant.
- Attending to property transactions, including but not limited to transactions relating to sale or purchasing/acquiring of property and conducting and/ or assisting with due diligence as required under such transactions.
- Assisting with procedural processes for rental determinations.

- The Candidate should be able to efficiently deal with the varied legal work required for the Group Companies and to be able to prioritise and manage workload to meet and adhere to strict deadlines.
- To be able to liaise and work with key personal across the group companies to ensure the smooth running of the businesses and for legal compliance.
- To be able to work with integrity and with a strong work ethic
- To have a keen attention to detail and to be able to oversee the compliance and accuracy of the various integral documents of the Group Companies.
