As our Junior Software Developer in our Computational Biology team your purpose will be to:
- Standardise health data according to industry standards such as FHIR, or OMOP CDM to facilitate interoperability and exchange
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate health data from clinical research systems, laboratory systems, and other sources into a unified platform. We have a 2-year horizon to include eMR data.
- Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of health data
- Facilitate the exchange of deidentified, matched health and genomic data among different research organisations, enabling seamless data sharing while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. These systems may be compliant with research standards like GA4GH Beacon and PhenoPackets.
- Collaborate with data analysts and researchers to provide access to clean, standardized data for research and analytics projects
To succeed you will have…
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or Bioinformatics.
- Experience in backend development
- Fluency in at least 2 modern data-centric programming languages such as Java, Python, Perl and R
- Experienced with SQL and NoSQL databass.
- Designed and implemented the RESTful API and microservices integration.
- Experienced in containerization platform such as Docker.
- Experienced in developing and adopting standards for authentication and authorization (AuthN/AuthZ), so that approved researchers can access data, potentially using CILogon, GA4GH’s Passport, or NIH’s RAS standards
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Can work well in a team but can also work under minimal supervision if needed.
- Familiar with RESTful APIs and the MVC design pattern.
- Familiar with database architecture and writing sophisticated SQL queries.
