About the Role
As the Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for assisting with the efficient management of the day-to-day operations of the Culinary Department.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping our culinary identity and upholding our reputation for culinary excellence. You will assist to lead a talented team of culinary professionals, driving innovation in the kitchen, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional cuisine.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development, and execution of dishes that showcase local flavours and seasonal ingredients.
- Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food items to ensure they meet Hyatt's high standards of quality and consistency.
- Mentor and guide junior kitchen staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning, growth, and culinary excellence.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create new and innovative dishes that will delight our guests and enhance their dining experience.
Qualifications
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
- Passion for food and a creative approach to cooking.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team player mentality.
- In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation.
- Exceptional organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Good understanding of computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
- Proven knowledge and experience in all operational and functional aspects of kitchen administration.
- Ability to manage labour and food costs within a budget.
- Sound knowledge of HACCP and food safety.
