Key Accounts Manager – Melbourne

About the role:

The role of Key Accounts Manager will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with key commercial & industrial customers, developers, councils, major infrastructure projects and Government bodies, supporting line management in influencing commercial outcomes in line with corporate objectives and strategies. The role will require the application of strong technical knowledge around key operational drivers for commercial and industrial customers (incl. power factor, power quality etc.) to ensure credibility is earnt with Jemena’s largest electricity consumers.

Working collaboratively with the stakeholders across the broader Jemena business, the Key Accounts Manager will maximise the performance of current and future commercial opportunities, active management of relationships with external parties, commercial negotiations and driving continuous improvement outcomes for customers whilst driving internal stakeholders to mitigate risks and deliver on the agreed strategies to support the achievement of business plans and objectives.

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Actively develop and implement strategies to maintain and strengthen effective operating relationships between Jemena and key customers and industry stakeholders across all electricity distribution activities, with support from manager as appropriate
  • Act as key point of contact for key customers and stakeholders into Jemena
  • Develop and maintain Key Account management systems and tools including customer database. Support development of CRM-type solutions
  • Act as an escalation point within Jemena for customers seeking complex resolutions. Coordinate with and efficiently engage other Jemena departments to resolve the enquiries. Ensure internal, regulatory and customers’ expectations are met; escalate to line manager for support if required
  • Proactively manage customer interactions from initial enquiry, and subsequently direct to the appropriate part of Jemena, right through to closure of the project.
  • Track and monitor progress of customer offers, ensuring that customer and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Liaise with Services & Projects and Asset Management for detailed costing, options, technical design, feasibility, planning, procurement and project management delivery of relocation projects.
  • Apply approved pricing strategies and commercial risk management policies to all commercial offers and contracts developed.
  • Identify, develop and deliver customer-centric value-add solutions to meet customer needs, within the bounds of the regulated electricity business and aligned to corporate objectives and business plans.
  • Identify partners of choice amongst customer base to deliver innovative projects and products / services in partnership with key customers and key Jemena stakeholders

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience in customer and stakeholder account management
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management/administration and commercial acumen
  • Experience in the development of commercially robust offers for the provision of work for complex customer-initiated projects.
  • Experience in understanding high voltage construction and commercial risks of complex electricity projects.
  • Understanding of the electricity distribution regulatory regime (highly desirable).
  • Ability to initiate, build and maintain effective relationships with industry groups and Government.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Previous exposure to energy markets (highly desirable).
