Your new company
Mortim Australia is a wholesale timber distributor with branches in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland. Founded in 1979, they offer a wide range of premium timber products and services for building projects, such as structural grade softwood, treated pine products, stair and window joinery components, furniture grade softwoods, and more. They cater to a broad diversity of building styles and manufacturing raw material requirements. Mortim has created an enviable reputation built on integrity and transparency in the Australian timber industry, making them the preferred supply partner to many successful timber manufacturers, merchants and frame & truss businesses. Their parent company, Claymark, is New Zealand's largest manufacturer and distributor of premium pine products and their acquisition of Mortim creates an integrated supply chain for a large range of wood products. Embarking on an exciting growth phase, a newly created Key Account Manager role has been created, based from their new facility in Cranbourne, reporting to the State Manager VIC.
Your new role
The main purpose of the role is to manage sales and account development of Key Accounts with timber wholesalers and trade merchants.
Key duties include:
Account Management: Maintain and enhance customer relationships. This includes regular contact, prompt response to enquiries, updating customers on pricing and offers, communicating Mortim’s policies, and identifying cross or up-selling opportunities.
New Business Development: Develop strategies to attract new customers and target markets. This involves reaching out to potential customers, following up on leads, effectively communicating Mortim’s services and pricing, and documenting all actions.
Customer Service: Professionally handle customer enquiries, provide quotes and follow-ups, communicate enquiries to relevant parties if needed, and maintain accurate records.
Sales Reporting/Meetings: Provide sales updates to the State Manager, maintain sales records, and actively participate in sales meetings with up-to-date information and timely action on agreed items.

What you'll need to succeed
Several years experience in B2B Sales and Key Account Management, supplying into trade merchants and timber wholesalers.
Previous experience working in timber wholesaling, a timber mill or building/furniture manufacturing industries industry is highly desired
Proven abilities in sales and negotiations, and a history of successful achievements.
Proficient in fostering and sustaining vital business relationships.
Robust skills in resolving problems effectively.
Australian or NZ citizen or permanent work rights & a valid drivers driver's licence are essential.
