Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.
The Kimberley Education Excellence Program (KEEP) gives young Aboriginal people from the Kimberley access to high-quality education, a supportive environment and an extensive range of extracurricular opportunities. KEEP supports Aboriginal students to feel
connected to home and culture, allowing them to flourish while away from home. To achieve this, we offer a home-like setting for students who live together under the supervision and care of Aboriginal house-parents.
Key Duties will include:
• Assist KEEP students in achieving their secondary school and post-secondary goals.
• Develop Individual Career Pathway Plans.
• Deliver life skill development workshops and individual support.
• Collaborate regularly with our partner school and other services.
• Working in conjunction with KEEP staff and house parents to support students.
Selection Criteria will be based on the following:
• Demonstrate understanding and experience in working with Aboriginal people, particularly ability to relate to young people from the Kimberley.
• Demonstrated administration and organisational skills including computer literacy and data entry.
• Local knowledge of stakeholder and service provider plus the ability to establish collaborative partnership.
• Understanding of pathways into University, TAFE and employment.
• Demonstrated proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Qualifications and/or work experience in one of the following disciplines: teaching, social science or youth and community services.
• Familiarity with student boarding programs, particularly relating to Aboriginal students.This role will be offered on a part-ti
