About the Position:
We are seeking an Experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Kyogle in northern NSW. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all aspects of our timber manufacturing operations and coordinating various processes, managing our team, optimising resource utilisation, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and profitability.
The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of our Kyogle site’s daily operations. You will be a key leader in driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within our site.
The northern rivers area provides a lifestyle for the family with access to major centres while also enjoying fishing, water sports and a smaller community atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of larger towns. Great for all aspects of the family.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to;
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand while optimising resource utilisation.
- Provide leadership, coaching, site inductions and mentorship to build a motivated and skilled workforce, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Lead a team of supervisors, production staff, and support personnel to achieve production goals, drive continuous improvement, and enhance overall operational efficiency are met across the Kyogle site (45 people).
- Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including key metrics, production volumes, downtime and quality data
- Monitor and control production costs to meet budgetary goals within the site operations.
- Ensure the availability of raw materials, equipment, and labour to meet production targets.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to and enforcing safety protocols and regulations.
To be considered for this challenging and exciting position, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Extensive experience in a production management role, with a strong track record of optimising production processes.
- Previous exposure to timber manufacturing is highly regarded.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of safety and quality standards and regulations
- Ability to Identify areas for improvement to optimize workflows, reduce waste and meet budgeting and forecasted targets.
