The lab assistant role also performs general laboratory duties, equipment maintenance, administrative tasks and responding to phone enquires in a professional manner and escalating them as required.
About the role
We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of analysers
- Pre and post analytical specimen handling
- Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
- Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
- Assisting Scientists in the Lab as required
- Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
- Staying up to date with processing updates
- Respond to result, sample requirements and general queries
- Identifying and resolving problems on at the pre-analytic stage
- Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with Departmental and Organisational policies and procedures.
- Participate in departmental continuing education program/s
- Manage shared mailboxes as required
- As directed, perform, unpack and maintain stock inventory to ensure continuity of testing and service provisions
- Where directed, and as appropriate with knowledge and experience, assist in training of other staff and facilitate training of new staff
About you

- Certificate in pathology and/or laboratory skills and techniques or equivalent
