Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Conservation and Land Management Traineeship with a local council. Based in the spectacular Maranoa Gardens, we are looking for a motivated, committed and reliable person who has a passion for biodiversity, revegetation and Australian Native Plants. Receive extensive training and a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (2 Year Traineeship).
What will you be doing?
This amazing opportunity offers much more than the traditional industry traineeship placement. You will learn all about fauna and flora, e.g., how animals contribute to the environment/eco systems there, understanding bugs and pests, etc.
Other duties will include:
Contribute to the curation of living plant collections
Develop and implement weed, erosion, revegetation programs for biodiversity sites
Implement a range of horticultural maintenance and development operations to agreed standards using a high level of skill and judgment.
Maintain and safely operate a range of minor plant and equipment.
Maintenance of collection data and work records.
Assist with horticultural renovation, redevelopment and construction work.
Observance of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and policies.
What are we looking for?
A demonstrated prior interest to horticulture and understanding of trees, plants and shrubs
Professional approach when dealing with members of the public, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team with a can-do attitude
Drivers Licence and Own Car
White Card
Satisfactory completion of a National Police Record Check, Working with Children Check, and pre-employment Medical Check
Eligibility criteria applies for this program in relation to work rights, prior qualifications and Covid-19 vaccination requirements.
