Lead - Projects
Glencore's McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You'll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers worldwide. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.
About the role:
The purpose of this role is to provide effective leadership and management within the projects team on projects as allocated by the Superintendent - Projects. Ensuring projects are executed successfully so that broader short, medium and long term strategies supporting the Life of Asset production, cost, statutory (Safety and Environment) and safety targets are archived. Position will be offered on a 12-month fixed term contract initially, with the possibility of extension.
Accountabilities:
- Plan, execute and deliver capital projects within time and budget and in accordance with the Capital Management Framework and Australian and International Standards and Law.
- Effective scoping and planning of projects by communicating with key stakeholders and taking ownership of Projects and their execution.
- Provide visible leadership to project team members and actively promote and demonstrate Glencore values during all interactions
- Implementation of all relevant standards during execution of projects
- Management of project budgets including recovery of costs as appropriate.
- Execution and ownership of contractual requirements and duties as required.
- Ensure all personnel work efficiently, safely, legally and complete allocated works.
- Take ownership of the project and work completed.
- Awareness and compliance with requirements of the Relevant Acts and Regulations.
Successful applicant will have:
- Project Management Qualification,
- Bachelor of Engineering
- Project Management Certification
- Sound written and verbal communications skills;
- Sound knowledge of project management processes to enable effective scoping and execution of projects to key stakeholders expectations;
- Ability to manage projects through the development of short, medium and long term strategies that can be implemented over the lifecycles of a project;
- Competent in facilitation of stakeholder review meetings and risk assessments;
- Evaluating and managing the performance of project team members to maximise productivity;
- Experience in contract and construction management, including knowledge of the requirements of various Australian Standards related to delivery of the projects;
- Experience in planning and execution of capital projects varying from $100K to $5 million
