Duties and Responsibilities
· Work cooperatively and professionally with students, teachers and other staff
· Develop an understanding of student needs and their individual program/s, and see the student¿s development in the broader context (family expectations, social challenges, emotional regulation issues etc.)
· Develop a rapport with students and families
· Work with individual and/or small groups of students, under the guidance of the Learning Support Coordinator, class or specialist teachers
· Implement the necessary adjustments for the student to access learning, based on guidance from the teachers, Learning Support Coordinator and aspects of the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
· Assist students by implementing modified learning programs, under the guidance of the teachers and Learning Support Coordinator
· Regularly update the Learning Support Coordinator, Learning Support team, and classroom teachers, about a student¿s progress in a set task/activity
· Maintain records on student needs, accommodations provided and progress across a range of subject areas
· Provide one on one support where required e.g. homework help, supervising tests, reading comprehension, emotional regulation when student is heightened
· Effectively utilise ICT skills (particularly Google Drive, Google Classroom and Google Suite), to support student with class tasks and to communicate with staff
· Assist the student/s to improve their organisational skills
· Encourage and support students to do as much as they can for themselves so that they do not become over-reliant on support
· Attend meetings as required e.g. Student Support Group meetings (scheduling, taking minutes, providing feedback in the meeting)
· Attend excursions and camps where required
· Maintain confidentiality in all interactions
· Work closely with the Learning Support Coordinator who may vary the above duties from time to time or may ask the LSO to take on other duties commensurate with their position in the College. Ultimately the LSO/Integration Aide is responsible to the Principal, who may vary the above duties from time to time.
