Screen Queensland are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team based in Teneriffe on a part-time basis (up to 29 hours per week). We will work together to establish a schedule that best suits your individual circumstances and preferences.
What you’ll do:
Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will play a pivotal role in providing administrative, contract document and matter tracking assistance, ensuring our legal operations run smoothly. As the Legal Assistant, you will administer procedures and systems to streamline and focus the team’s workflow. You'll be the bridge between our team and external stakeholders, corresponding with funding applicants, government departments, and other key players in a clear and professional manner, ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative support to the legal team, including document filing, contract execution procedures, invoicing, credit card reconciliation and travel arrangements.
- Preparing initial drafts of basic legal correspondence and template contract documents, showcasing your attention to detail and precision.
- Conducting basic legal research as required, assisting the team in gathering essential information for legal matters and staying ahead of the curve.
- Database management (including SharePoint, SmartyGrants and Trello).
- Assisting with the broader Screen Queensland team office administration as required
What you’ll bring:
You will be an administrative superstar with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, a proactive approach to your work, exceptional attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. Whilst prior experience in a legal setting or as a paralegal will be highly regarded, it is not essential.
Supplementing this, you will have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office programs and the ability to pick up new systems as required (prior experience with SmartyGrants and Trello will be highly regarded).
- Well-developed time management skills and ability to manage and prioritise competing demands
- Demonstrated skills in proofing and drafting basic legal correspondence and template contract documents, together with basic research skills as required.
- A passion for film and television or previous exposure to the screen industry.
