Job description

Join our Clients dynamic team in Melbourne as an Administrative Assistant / Legal Assistant. They are seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide essential support to their busy legal office. This is a full-time position ideal for recent school leavers or those looking to kickstart their career in a corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Lawyers with various administrative tasks
  • Attending Court to copy and collect documents
  • Diary management and scheduling
  • Delivering briefs and managing files
  • Archiving and general administrative duties
  • Interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders
About You:
  • At least 3 years experience as a Legal Assistant, no law students as we are looking for a career Legal Assistant
  • 2 to 3+ years of experience in a comparable position within a reputable organization
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail and proficient typing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Desire to work in a legal office environment and potential interest in pursuing further studies, such as a Certificate in Business Administration
  • Ability to adapt and learn legal practice management systems and document production processes
  • Prior office experience is advantageous but not essential; team-oriented individuals are encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency in file opening and document management
  • Ability to handle reception duties, including answering phones
  • Familiarity with office management tasks such as invoicing and supply ordering
  • Experience in drafting letters and interacting with clients
  • Competency in filing court documents, including proficiency in online filing platforms like Redcrest
  • Skilled in diary management and organizing appointments, including scheduling Zoom meetings
  • Capability to prepare briefs for Counsel, court books, chronologies, and spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong technical knowledge and effective communication skills
  • Experience with LEAP practice management software and Xero accounting software would be advantageous
  • Background in bookkeeping, accounting, or related fields will be highly regarded
