Level 1, $56,899 - $64,774 per annum (DOE (SSO) CA 2022)

Advertised Vacancy Number: SS/SS881713

This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

School Of Special Educational Needs: Sensory (SSEN:S) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Library Officer to join their team.

SSEN:S provides targeted teaching and learning, consultancy, and professional learning to support students with vision impairment from birth to Year 12.

In early childhood, and throughout all school years, non-visual resources or modified visual resources form either the basis of experiential learning and development of conceptual understanding for those with no vision, or a fundamental component of the learning experience to supplement low vision.

This short-term role is required to develop, prepare, repair, catalogue and distribute the following items to ensure current and future stocks to enable resource provision for students with low vision or no useful vision:

  • Tactile books
  • Tactile graphics
  • 3-Dimensional materials and resources
  • Electronic text.

We collectively strive to meet individual and school needs by providing collaborative, productive and targeted specialist educational services for babies, children, students, and schools to improve the wellbeing, engagement, and achievement of learners. In delivering a range of tiered and complementary educational programs, services, and targeted supports, we facilitate accessible learning environments, curriculum, and school communities.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
  • good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
  • ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • ability to provide administrative support and organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

Applications will be assessed against these work related requirements (selection criteria) of the position. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
