Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily staff management in your team through strong leadership skills, instilling a positive culture to all team members
- Team performance management - both the positive and negative performance management in formal and informal situations
- Team development - identifying development opportunities for junior team members and facilitating an environment that both encourages and supports development of individuals to lead to overall team success
- Team growth and direction planning - With the 2030 plan in mind, identifying points on that journey that the team will need additional resources- both human and asset.
- Stakeholder relationships - building, developing and maintaining relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
- Communication- clear, concise, and conscious communication upwards, outwards and downwards.
- Resource management to ensure the effective and efficient execution of the schedule.
- Use of livestock software platforms for mapping weekly structure, inductions, exits and other tasks.
- Communicate and management of the weekly structure both to the wider livestock team and to management and administration members of the broader team, ensuring clear, timely, and accurate data exchange.
- assist with preparation and implementation of annual forecasts, budgets and other business plans
- Communicate ideas and suggestions to help develop and/or refine processes to improve the efficiency in the operation of the business.
- Undertake regular team meetings to provide direction and support to the broader livestock team.
- Reporting on livestock programs, mortality, production reporting.
- Working closely with agents for the sales and procurement of cattle
Qualifications & experience
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft office products including Word, excel and Outlook.
- Experience in farm management software is desirable.
- Ability to work autonomously and make decisions when necessary.
- Effective multi directional communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team setting.
- High level computer proficiency for accurate data entry and record-keeping purposes.
- Strong attention to detail, are organized and can effectively manage and co-ordinate competing demands.
- You can apply a continuous improvement lens and find innovative solutions to addressing challenges and driving efficiency.
- Excellent follow-up skills to see tasks through to resolution and communicate problem status to end
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Self-starter and motivated with the ability to work to deadlines.
- Act in a professional manner always, maintain and hold the respect of employees and the management on the property.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Industry understanding of animal health and welfare
- Current driver's licence (HR truck would be preferred)
