Job description

We're Feros Care, and we're pleased to meet you.

What we care most about is helping people live healthier, happier, better-connected lives. Since 1990, we've been making it happen for both older Australians and people with disability. We are proud to be Game Changers, Dream Makers, Kindness Champions, Culture Shapers, and Vibrant Creators. Our innovative approach has won us numerous awards on both the local and international stages.

We actively seek to include, welcome, and value the unique contributions of all people. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people with disability.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Local Area Coordinator (LAC), in the area of Canberra and surrounds, you will be the heartbeat of the NDIA in your local community. Your role will be centered on empowering people with disability, their families, and carers to build, pursue, and fulfill their goals and aspirations, exercising choice and control while engaging with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Your work will include:

Person and Community-Centered Approach: Assist participants and people with a disability to link and engage with mainstream and community supports, supporting scheme access where appropriate. Help participants identify and develop goals, emphasising strengths-based practices to empower individuals.

Place-Based Engagement: Commit to meeting participants and people with disability in their communities, living, meeting, working, and gathering in the places that matter to them. This role is not a work-from-home position; it requires active engagement within the community. This role may be required to work additional hours outside of core business hours to assist with achieving participant outcomes and/or community engagement activities.

Relationship and Partnership Building: Develop strong, positive community partnerships that support capacity building and ensure accessible and inclusive communities. Work collaboratively with local communities and mainstream services to raise awareness and become more inclusive of the needs of people with disability.

Strengths-Based and Outcomes-Focused: Utilise a strengths-based approach to help participants understand how the funding in their plan works and explore ways to achieve their goals. Work within a place-based framework to ensure services are tailored to the unique needs and strengths of each community.

Flexible Working Environment: Operate within a hot desking environment and actively participate in community work, rather than being confined to a traditional office setup.

Who We're Looking For:

Great people skills, excellent written communication, and strong time management skills.

Experience in meeting and exceeding KPIs and outcomes.

Adaptability and ability to cope with a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

A person-centered approach when working with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds, focused on empowering individuals to exercise choice and control, delivering positive outcomes, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding professional integrity.

Relevant qualifications in disability, allied health, community services, or a minimum of 2 years' experience working with people living with disability or lived experience with disability or caring for someone with disability.

What We Can Do for You:

Salary banding from $78,506 - $84,320 depending on relevant qualifications and years of experience.

Not-for-profit salary packaging (up to $15,899 per annum tax-free) and Meal and Entertainment Packaging (up to $2,650 per annum tax-free).

Daily travel allowance ($25 per day).

Extensive discounts on everyday purchases, financial tips and services, and wellness programs through our employee benefit program ForME.

Extensive training, development, and career opportunities (support for additional relevant qualifications and certificates).

Private Health Insurance Discount (Medibank).

Employee Referral Program.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Paid parental leave for eligible employees.

All technology/equipment provided.

Dedicated, supportive managers who care about your wellbeing.

How to Apply:

When successful, you will be required to undertake a national police check and provide evidence of your right to work in Australia. If you would like to discuss accessibility requirements, preferred communication methods, or other possibilities, please contact Mariana on 0448 094 *** or mariananikolic @feroscare.com.au
