The Role
Logistics Officer to join their dynamic team.
Within the Logistics Management function an APS5 Logistics Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex logistics inventory and asset management within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
An APS 5 Logistics Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the Logistics Management function area based on legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake technical research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessment and perform procedural, clerical and administrative support work to achieve results.
The APS 5 Logistics Officer may coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They may be a team coach or supervise a team and be accountable to set work priorities, allocate work, and manage workflows and performance. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.
The APS 5 Logistics Officer may be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

The duties of an APS 5 Logistics Officer occupation in Defence include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle):
- Contribute to various logistics management activities to provide support to the unit.
- Participate in the review and development of policies, procedures and processes for logistics management.
- Draft responses to correspondence, briefs and reports on logistics management.
- Understand and clarify logistics policy and legislation within Defence.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participates in team work and group activities.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
