Tell me more...The position is responsible for the co-ordination of in-house trades staff and contractors for Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS), by providing leadership and technical advice to subordinates and clients on building systems, plant and equipment within the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service as and when required.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven ability to prioritise work, work without supervision and provide professional leadership and co-ordination in a remote location for building, engineering, and maintenance services.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional leadership and co-ordination of a team of internal staff and contractors in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department, including but not limited to, coordination of minor new works and projects.
- Proven high level negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in both general and technical terms either verbally or in writing at all levels, within a large organisation. Both internally and with external providers, establish networks at all levels within government, non-government, and professional organisations.
- Sound knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of Statutory Acts, Regulations and Standards applicable to building services in Queensland.

Requirements for the role:
Whilst there are no mandatory requirements for this position, the below would be considered highly desirable.
- A trade background
- Additional licenses to operate larger vehicles and machinery
- Experience dealing with contractors and contract development
- A maintenance management background with a sound knowledge of strategic maintenance planning
