About the role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Maintenance Manager will lead and manage all aspects of the Southern Ports operational delivery component of the asset management system to deliver safe and reliable assets to support Southern Ports operations in its regional communities.
The Maintenance Manager is a newly created role and will be responsible for providing high level management, technical and strategic support to the broader operations department on all issues pertaining to maintenance systems, processes and execution. A core component will be to develop, manage and execute the annual maintenance program including all aspects of planning and execution.
The role will have a strong regional focus and will manage a team that is spread over multiple sites to deliver its key responsibilities.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and projects to improve maintenance performance across port assets.
  • Consult and collaborate with other operational and functional areas to develop and embed holistic Southern Ports’ values, policies, procedures and systems.
  • Lead the maintenance team and support Southern Ports cultural objectives by role modelling Southern Ports’ values and behaviours.
  • Champion the roll out and delivery of Southern Ports’ strategies and organisational improvement initiatives.
  • Streamline and standardise process to drive maximum value for SPA
  • Implement industry best practice processes and ways of working
  • Introduce and manage risk-based inspection and condition-based maintenance practices
  • Drive innovation to achieve Southern Ports goals in terms of asset reliability
  • Drive the optimised balance between cost, risk and performance of operational assets.
  • Identify, evaluate and mitigate, as far as practicable, operational, commercial, environmental, safety and people risks.
  • Ensure the safe and environmentally responsible delivery of maintenance services across the SPA operations.
  • Lead the consistent application of Southern Ports’ HS&E policies, procedures and standards.
Experience and Requirements
  • Trade level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, other
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or post-graduate qualifications in business or leadership is desirable
  • Qualifications in Asset Management and Project Management will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience with the maintenance of bulk handling and other mechanical equipment such as ship unloaders and loaders, conveyor systems, stackers, reclaimers, silos, rail and truck receival/loading equipment, and front-end loaders, cranes and other mobile plant.
  • Demonstrated experience with the maintenance of civil marine assets such as berths, wharves, jetties, navaids, breakwaters etc as well as landside civil assts such as roads and drainage etc. and front-end loaders, cranes and other mobile plant.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic asset management practices, ideally with respect to the management of mechanical assets.
  • Experience in the management and maintenance of other mechanical equipment, such as mobile plant, boats, trucks, vehicles, HVAC systems etc.
  • Practical understanding of OH&S practices as they relate to the workplace.
  • WA C class driver’s licence

Requirements
  
To be eligible for this full-time role, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency and be located or willing to relocate to either Albany, Bunbury or Esperance.
  
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
