Due to the acquisition of a new exclusive client, the business is seeking an independent Management Accountant to support the business forward.
Your Role
A newly created position, with new software being rolled out in a purpose-built warehouse, the Management Accountant will provide strategic, operational and hands on support across the Finance and ICT activities and undertake one of the most important positions in the company. Reporting to the Directors and Financial Control leaders, you will start the business and manage a small team of Administrators. Daily duties will require you to oversee;
- Bookkeeping processes including GL entries, AP and AR functions, and account reconciliation
- Labour hire and Sub-contractor invoice RCTI, reconciliation and payment
- Timely preparation of weekly invoices for the key client
- Completion of monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
- Payroll calculation and processing including weekly and fortnightly pay runs for hourly and salaried staff, child support deductions and payment, superannuation, payroll tax, IAS, and RTWSA payments and recoveries
- Timely and accurate completion of financial and statutory requirements including TPAR, FBT and BAS data
- Development and ongoing preparation of budgeting and forecasting tools
- Prepare monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, internal management reports, budgets and cashflow statements at levels appropriate for multiple stakeholders (departmental / consolidated / external)
- Analysis and reporting on freight performance and key performance indicators (contract based met / not met, and other internal KPI measures), costings, profitability analysis, exception reporting, and budgeting and forecasting tools
- Understand, analyse, and report on operational and financial business activity and the critical cost drivers
- Proactively identify process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives
- Provide financial information to support leadership decision making
- Maintain current working knowledge of Finance, ICT, and industry relevant legislation
- Communicate Finance and ICT initiatives, requirements, policies, and procedures to the workforce
- Collate statistical information and provide KPI reporting to internal stakeholders
- Participate in departmental meetings to improve and strengthen internal controls around business processes, information systems and communication
- Prepare project driven data and other information when required
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across all entities
The position is a full-time permanent role, Monday to Friday, 8.30 – 5pm with some reasonable out of hours contact due to the nature of the client and size of the task. You’ll commence working in the head office and relocate to Salisbury in the coming months. Salary guide is $95 – 105K + Super and the possibility for career growth.
About You
- Relevant Australian Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting or Finance
- At least 5 years’ experience as an Accountant or Management Accountant
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to engage appropriately with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Exceptional attention to detail and highly accurate data processing and management
- A natural problem solver who thrives on finding solutions and process improvements
- Strong computer skills including advanced Microsoft knowledge, with the ability to learn quickly and confidently to operate various software applications
- Excellent time management skills including the ability to plan, meet deadlines, with flexibility to alter priorities to meet changing demands
- Responsive to both set tasks and ad hoc requests quickly, logically and with a clear sense of priority
