The Role:
The Manager Development and Philanthropy reports to the Head of Strategic Philanthropy, and the role forms part of the Development, Philanthropy and Communications team.
The role is responsible for acquiring new donors, developing new donor relationships, and for supporting the team in managing and stewarding donors.
You will undertake prospect research and work with the Head of Strategic Philanthropy and the Director Development, Philanthropy and Communications to qualify and prioritise prospective donors including high net worth donors. In addition, you will manage the HRI F2F program, engaging external F2F partners, developing acquisition plans and ensuring F2F teams are well trained and delivering high quality donors who commit to the HRI regular giving program. You will analyse the performance and F2F suppliers and manage clawback and incentive arrangements.
In addition, you will support the Head of Strategic Philanthropy, working together to prepare robust cases for support to engage prospective high value donors, and you will assist in the Development and implementation of donor stewardship plans and acquittal reporting.
The role represents an opportunity to stretch across both traditional fundraising and strategic philanthropy. It requires you to be adaptable and to work collaboratively within you colleagues to identify and grow opportunities across multiple streams.
You will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business including members of the HRI Board and HRI Philanthropy Advisory Board, research scientists and clinicians. You will cultivate, solicit and steward HRI’s regular donors and high value donors and prospects.
This is a permanent role based in Newtown, with flexibility to work full time or part time. We are a nimble, diverse and flexible team.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Manage the F2F fundraising program, working closely with the Head of Retention and Regular-Mid Level Giving and the Head of Strategic Philanthropy, and your colleagues across the broader Development and Philanthropy team.
- Negotiate and manage F2F supplier agreements and work programs.
- Ensure F2F teams are well trained and provided with thorough briefings and compelling cases for support to engage prospective supporters.
- Involvement in the planning and implementation of HRI’s Strategic Philanthropy portfolio.
- Undertake donor research and assist in identifying and qualifying major donor prospects.
- Support the Head of Strategic Philanthropy in developing inspiring and compelling campaigns and cases for support in collaboration with researcher scientists, tailored to deliver on the interests of individuals donors at various giving levels.
- Support the Head of Strategic Philanthropy and the Director Development, Philanthropy and Communications to cultivate, solicit and steward major and transformative gifts.
- Support the Head of Strategic Philanthropy to effectively manage reporting and acquittal, ensuring donors are provided with regular and useful updates on progress and impact, tailored to meet their individual requirements.
- In collaboration with Head of Strategic Philanthropy, develop strategies to increase the frequency and scale of gifts.
- Prepare rigorous analysis, identifying opportunities to improve and elevate revenue and refine key programs.
- Lead consultants and partner organisations as appropriate to work effectively with HRI and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that translate into strong donor and revenue growth.
To be successful in this role you will have/be:
- A minimum of 5+ years in a similar role.
- Experience and exposure to F2F fundraising acquisition and in the management of F2F partners organisations.
- A thorough understanding of regular giving and the ability to support your colleagues in developing retention strategies.
- Involvement in developing and implementing philanthropic strategies and campaigns.
- Involvement in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major and transformative gifts.
- Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining long term relationships with partner organisations, external suppliers, philanthropic supporters and prospects.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing contracts and supplier agreements.
- Exemplary interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and presentation skills
- High level of emotional maturity, resilience and capacity to build strong relationships with colleagues and donors.
- Exemplary time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure.
- A growth mindset: the capacity to develop new ideas and take calculated risks.
- Analytical mind withhe capacity to work with your colleagues in the Business Analytics and Data team to understand the data, identify insights and refine programs accordingly.
- Strong sense of initiative and attention to detail, a can-do attitude to meet deadlines and competing priorities.
- Highly motivated and organised, but also flexible and adaptable with an appetite for change and continual learning
- Alignment with HRI values of Excellence, Curiosity, Teamwork, Transparency and Inclusivity.
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Marketing, Strategy and Creative Innovation or Arts would be highly regarded.
