About the Role
We are seeking a Manager-Environment who will be responsible for overseeing all of Coronado Australia's environmental compliance policies and governance framework to ensure it is fit for purpose and in line with all legislative requirements.
As an integral member of the Technical Development Leadership Team, and working closely with the Curragh Operations teams, you will provide oversight and audit of environmental and tenement requirements and approvals. The role also supports the development of climate change related strategy and initiatives to ensure Coronado achieves its decarbonisation objectives.
Other key accountabilities include:
- Working with technical, environmental and related professionals to secure environmental approvals with State and Commonwealth regulatory authorities.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory tenement requirements, tenement obligations schedules and reporting status to stakeholders.
- Undertaking strategic engagement with government planning authorities and liaise with regulatory agencies, community and other stakeholders on environmental approvals.
- Coordinating baseline and other environmental studies, evaluating environmental impacts and designing mitigating strategies.
- Audit compliance against all environmental legislation to ensure standards are upheld.
- Coordinate NGER's & Safeguard measures requirements and ensure timely & accurate reporting.
- Lead and compile the development of the various components of Curragh's Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plan (PRCP) by partnering with the Environmental and Finance teams and relevant consultants identified through gap analysis such that the legislative requirements and timings are met while positioning the business for the lowest cost implementable outcome.
- Support the development of climate change strategic initiatives
About You
We're looking for a strategic and results-oriented professional with expert technical qualities and the ability to build positive and ethical relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers.
To support your success in this role you will have:
- Extensive experience in environmental management roles preferably in open cut coal mining operation/s;
- Knowledge of the Qld Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Statutory Regulations;
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Project Management, commercial acumen and analytical skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
