About the Role:


As the Health and Safety Manager for the Liddell and Bayswater Power Station Site Transition, you will be directly responsible for driving and proactively managing the Health and Safety risks associated with the planning, delivery and execution of the Site Transition Program, firstly for Liddell and subsequently for Bayswater.

You will assess, plan, communicate and deliver programs, documentation and direction to reduce risks to people, assets and the environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide specialist Health and Safety advice, support, guidance and coaching to increase Health & Safety awareness and assist in the identification, assessment and mitigation of risk
  • Provide visible leadership across all levels of the transition sites
  • Engage, motivate and influence worked and leaders to fulfill their legal Workplace Health And Safety obligations and AGL’s behavioural and performance expectations
  • Develop and distribute relevant communications to inform and educate the employees and contractors about safety issues, requirements and expectations
  • Lead or support others on incident investigations, ensuring that root causes are identified and mitigated to prevent recurrences
  • Conduct inspections, audits and other site activities to mitigate risk or improve safety performance
  • Identify trends and identify continuous improvement activities in safety practices and processes

About You:

You will be an experienced Health and Safety leader with a background in heavy industrial environments. You will inspire a proactive Health and Safety culture through your demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to best practice Health & Safety processes.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS Management (Diploma minimum)
  • Extensive experience in a similar industrial H&S leadership role
  • Experience in the power industry, industrial closures or demolitions is preferred
  • Experience in large scale construction and outages / shutdowns
  • Multiple contractor and subcontractor management experience
  • A strong systems and programs focus, including reporting, KPI’s competency assurance, health surveillance, onboarding and reward and recognition
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
