The Manager, Healthy Places is an exciting position. The Health Places Manager will work within the Population Health Collaboration Unit providing leadership and planning expertise to co-design programs to create places that keep people healthy in south western Sydney. The Healthy Places Manager is responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation and local coordination of Healthy Places initiatives that build capability in neighbourhood and built systems. The position will establish and manage productive relationships with local councils, state government agencies and other stakeholders.The Healthy Places Manager will contribute to implementation of the relevant SWSLHD strategic directions including t he Healthy Environments Strategy for SWSLHD 2022 – 2027 focussed on the creation of healthier built and natural environments across SWSLHD.There is clear evidence that built and natural environments impact directly and indirectly on the health of those living and working in them. There are opportunities to work collaboratively to create healthy environments by focussing on neighbourhood planning and design, food, physical activity, housing, transport, employment, community safety, open space, social infrastructure, social cohesion, the local environment (e.g. air, water and noise), and environmental sustainability.This position could suit a person from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds including health promotion, social science, urban planning, environmental health, local government or similar.Where You'll Be Working

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Relevant tertiary qualifications in public health, social science, science or related discipline relevant to health and/or the built environment and/or extensive equivalent practical experience preferably to a Masters level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of National, State and Local strategy and evidence related to improving health through built, physical and social environments.
  • Experience in project management including the ability to plan, design, implement, monitor and evaluate population focused programs to improve health through neighbourhood and built systems.,
  • Understanding and experience of applied research with knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to address complex organisational issues using analytical, critical appraisal and problem-solving skills and achieve deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with internal and external program partners to achieve successful program implementation and sustainability.
  • Demonstrated capacity to, manage a professional team, including motivating and coordinating staff to work within an action oriented multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high-level organisational and computer skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills in all settings and circumstances, including computer literacy and ability to use standard office programs.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
