This Manager, Major Programs is accountable for major health and recovery projects, strategies, and support the design of recovery products and services that contribute to achievement of the strategic outcomes detailed in the WorkSafe strategic plan.
The Manager, Major Programs is responsible for the identification of current best practice policy/services within the health sector and for using these to inform the development of innovative strategies, products and services for WorkSafe. This position is also accountable for the development and maintenance of high quality strategic relationships/partnerships with key external stakeholders, and requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking and a proven record to deliver on significant initiatives and projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a high functioning team that will design, develop, test and facilitate implementation of complex or specialised recovery products and services that have strategic and operational significance. Monitor the team's work flow and performance.
- Accountable for the development and delivery of innovative, customer centric, health and recovery related strategies, products and services, with strategic and operational implementation options
- Accountable for the identification of ongoing relationships and partnerships with external health stakeholders including via peak bodies and relevant agencies and government bodies to support the delivery of innovative strategy and initiatives
- Lead data analysis, stakeholder consultation and internal/external environmental scanning to identify best practice health trends for translation into strategy
- Accountable for driving a shared understanding of issues, building alignment and influencing strategic outcomes between key external and internal stakeholders
- Responsible for the provision of evidence-based, authoritative and strategic advice across WorkSafe, in relation to health and recovery strategy and engaging and working with relevant stakeholders
- Accountable for high quality planning, analysis and cost / benefit / resource estimations to support successful strategy delivery
- Accountable for identifying, building and maintaining strong working partnerships with key internal stakeholders to facilitate effective strategy development and implementation
- Lead the translation of knowledge from external health policy/reform/strategy into strategy opportunities for WorkSafe
- Accountable for the delivery of and contribution to effective project management, governance and reporting systems on relevant programs of work.
- Accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures. This is applicable to both hardcopy and electronic information, including email

About you
You thrive in working as a leader in agile environments and have a strong background in mental health, disability and /or workers compensation. You are a highly motivated individual that can work autonomously and feels confident in supporting stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for injured workers.
Skills and experience
- Extensive experience in leadership/management
- Extensive experience and/or knowledge in the health and disability sector
- Leading a culture that promotes alignment to values and human centred design approaches
- Proven ability to lead in an ambiguous environment where a responsive and flexible approach is required to ensure key business needs are meet
- Ability to coordinate and assume responsibility for complex projects or work programs that have strategic and/or operational significance
- Demonstrated experience contributing to strategic decision making
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and consultative skills with the ability to converse and influence a diverse group of stakeholders (internal and external) including stakeholders at an executive level to achieve a desired outcome
- Excellent time management, prioritisation, organisational and problem solving skills
- High level experience in executing quality written reports, briefs, presentations, training and strategic communications (oral and written) for internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification(s) in health or related project/business management field is preferred.
