About the Role
They are currently seeking a highly experienced and professional Manager, Payroll Governance & Compliance to lead and drive team performance. This role is a hybrid opportunity with the office being located in Parramatta plus some flexibility to work from home. This is an estimated 6-month temporary assignment, with a strong potential to extend.
Reporting to the Director, Transactional Services you will be required to drive the service delivery through effective leadership whilst managing strategic and operational Payroll Governance framework. This role is responsible for ensuring ongoing system and procedural compliance as well as governance of the organisations payroll including production, superannuation, taxation, reconciliation, disbursements and system configuration.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational and strategic leadership to establish and maintain a culture of team work, achievement and accountability
- Ensure accuracy of fortnightly payrolls
- Generating important payroll reports including preparation of salary advices, single touch payroll, reconciliations, disbursements and accounting transactions
- Develop, implement and manage payroll risk and governance framework
- Provide expertise on payroll, taxation and superannuation to stakeholders
- Establish and monitor internal control systems, evaluate effectiveness towards payroll and income protection functions for compliance
- Lead development and implementation of change management involved in new systems, processes and procedures, by identifying and adopting best practice and industry standards
- Proactively identify business risks and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Act as the conduit, liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding current payroll and accounting obligations
- Oversee complex Payroll Governance and compliance issues, implementing solutions, mitigating risks
- Maintain up to date knowledge of industrial awards, employment conditions and legislation

Requirements
- Demonstrated Leadership / Managerial experience
- End to End Payroll production and governance experience
- Proven experience working within a large complex organisation
- Extensive experience in a highly transactional payroll related environment
- Thorough understanding and ability to interpret legislation
- Public Sector experience highly advantageous
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS office suite and SAP essential
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Valid Baseline security clearances & willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
- Fully COVID vaccinated or medically exempt
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
