Northparkes will celebrate 30 years of operations in 2024 and is known for innovative technology and committed people. Northparkes uses multiple mining methods including open pit, sub-level caving and was the first mine in Australia to use the block cave mining method. About the role 

Reporting to the General Manager NPO, the People & Culture (P&C) Manager partners with the business to ensure the operation delivers on its medium to long-term plans. This role supports the business to create an engaged, capable and well-trained workforce. As the site leader for P&C, the role involves the management of the P&C function, being an active member of the site leadership team, and will have a strong focus on developing a high-performing leadership team, creating a positive business into the future. 

The P&C Manager will also assist in shaping the culture of the business, conducting organisational diagnoses to determine critical capabilities, design P&C practices which deliver results, and be a champion for inclusion and diversity across the operation. 

  

Some of the additional key result areas for this role will include: 

  • Leading change management processes for major P&C projects and initiatives, including the ongoing integration of Northparkes into Evolution culture and ways of working, as well as building change capability with the site GM and SLT. 

  • Driving organisational effectiveness, continually seeking improvement in the people space. 

  • Challenging and creating effective implementation of operational training and supporting systems. 

  • Advising and coaching in the ER space, ensuring alignment of ER practices with business and cultural goals and compliance with legal obligations. 

  • Facilitating key P&C cycles at site such as remuneration, performance and talent review. 

This role is based at our Northparkes operation and will ideally be residential in Parkes or the surrounding areas, with potential for DIDO. To enable this a generous salary package including housing and vehicle allowances, relocation assistance, short- and long-term incentives, and additional other benefits is provided. 

About you 

You will have significant experience working within a medium to large organisation in a generalist P&C role at a senior level, ideally leading a team of P&C professionals. You will have worked in dynamic and challenging environments and have experience working in a site-based P&C leadership role, ideally within the mining industry, however experience in other comparable industries will be considered. Your knowledge of contemporary P&C practices, organisational development and change initiatives will be essential as you lead large scale site-based change programs and develop medium to long-term P&C plans linked to operational strategy. You’ll have ER/IR experience in an industrial setting, as well as experience developing business plans, budgets and workforce planning aligned to business strategy and goals. 

  

You will have a strong leadership presence, leading by example, and coaching and mentoring others to build organisational capability. You will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and promote collaboration, both within your team and cross-functionally across departments and disciplines. You’ll have an established reputation for developing and driving business strategy and delivering results that contribute to the success of the organisation.
