We are hiring for a Manager, Sales – Western Region to work out of our Welshpool or Henderson offices with some travel.
Job scope:
The Manager for Sales, Western Australia is a dynamic, fast-paced, and pivotal position within the FLSmidth Asia Pacific business. Reporting to the manager of Services Sales (APAC), this role leads a highly skilled sales team that has achieved substantial year-on-year growth over the past decade, expanding this business to over AU$150M.
Upon successful appointment, your key responsibility is to continue fostering and implementing FLSmidth strategies across the region, with a focus on enhancing diversity and inclusion. Your role involves growing sales, market share, and revenue while leading, mentoring, and continually developing a diverse, multi-faceted sales team to achieve strategic goals.
While the primary emphasis is on the aftermarket space, this role encompasses sales of all FLSmidth product offerings, including Capital equipment, Consumable, Service, and Technical solutions, spanning across all key commodities.
What you will do:

  • Cultivate and nurture long-term, profitable customer relationships across the Western Australia Territory with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and drive the implementation of FLSmidth’s strategy to promote diversity and inclusion while growing sales, market share, and revenue across the business.
  • Maximize potential profitable volume from all markets through identifying, developing, and measuring key sales performance indicators aligned with strategic goals and business plans.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, establish targets, and monitor performance against set goals. Direct the continual appraisal of pricing and delivery methods, along with other policies and procedures.
  • Lead and develop a skilled, dedicated, and high-performing sales team with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Manage financials for the entire geographic/assigned region, achieving budget targets and developing maximum potential profitable volume from all markets for the full range of the company’s products.
  • Provide sales and marketing input for executive management reporting with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
What you bring:
  • A commitment to Safety and fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • In-depth understanding of market trends and conducting assessments of long-term markets to align with FLSmidth's diversity and inclusion strategy.
  • Experience in sales managerial and project management roles.
  • Sales/business development experience is a must have.
  • In-depth understanding of key competitors and their offerings, considering the potential impact upon sales strategy, and providing market intelligence related to competitor and market activity with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Metallurgy, Minerals Processing, or Chemistry and equivalent knowledge acquired through various paths are highly desirable.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business Management, Marketing/Sales, or equivalent is also considered, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Exposure or knowledge of mining or mineral processing is desirable, emphasizing a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Financial acumen and cost consciousness
  • Excellent commercial knowledge, communication, and high-level negotiation and influencing skills (externally and internally) while maintaining an exceptional customer service attitude.
  • Management and leadership skills involving effective delegation and teamwork with the ability to motivate others within and across functional departments, promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining high attention to detail. Logical thinking, quick creative problem-solving, and good decision-making skills with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
