Job description


Enviro-dynamics is looking for a manager of our environmental assessment services team. The team is a crucial component of our operations. The role involves leading a small multi-disciplinary team, predominantly delivering ecological surveys and associated reports for natural values assessments and bushfire planning.

Enviro-dynamics is a team of environmental consultants who specialise in landscape management. Our broad range of skills cover delivery of natural resource management, environmental assessments and ecological research and development. We work with a wide range of clients including primary producers, industry, state, and local government, NRM organisations, NGOs and private landholders.

To be successful in the role of manager of the environmental assessment team you will need to be very familiar with the Tasmanian Planning Scheme and its implementation and have sound ecological assessment skills. The role will involve project management, team logistics and review of reports. You will need to be able to act independently and complete all manner of the work delivered by the team to a high level as quality control is a very important component of our service delivery.

An attractive salary and allowances will be offered in line with your level of experience.

Qualifications and experience:

·      A degree in Ecology and/or Environmental Science or another relevant discipline.

·      Practical experience of 10+ years undertaking field-based surveys, data analysis and reporting, preferably in a consulting capacity.

·      Management experience with direct reports.

·      Experience in business development and client liaison.

Skills and Knowledge you’ll bring to our team:

·      Extensive experience undertaking ecological surveys with well-developed flora and fauna field ID skills.

·      Experience in preparing environmental reports such as natural values impact assessments, weed management plans, rehabilitation plans and bushfire risk management plans. Ideally you will be a certified bushfire practitioner or have at least provisional certification.

·      Strong working knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and planning policies. A strong familiarity with the Tasmanian and local government planning scheme provisions or the ability to quickly acquire them due to your extensive experience working in a similar role in another Australian state.

·      Strong organisational, time and project management skills.

·      Ability to write succinct, well structured reports.

·      GPS and GIS experience (QGIS preferred).
