Our client is a Global Freight Forwarder with origins in the northern hemisphere who have their sights set clearly on expanding their footprint in the Australia and New Zealand markets. As they grow and develop in our region, they are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Managing Director to lead the team and drive their strategic vision.
Position Overview
As Managing Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations and strategic direction of the company. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record in the freight forwarding industry, possessing a commercial mindset and a strategic vision to navigate the complexities of international logistics to drive future growth across Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership, develop and implement the company's long-term strategy for the region, identifying opportunities for growth and operational efficiency aligning with global business strategy
- Financial Management, drive financial performance through effective budgeting, cost control, and revenue generation strategies
- Commercial Management, develop and implement strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth and expand market share
- Team Management, lead and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Compliance and Risk Management, ensure compliance with industry regulations and mitigate operational risks through effective policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in a senior leadership role with a commercial focus within the freight forwarding industry
- Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving revenue and profitability
- Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate market trends and capitalize on business opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and team members
- Financial literacy and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
- In-depth knowledge of international logistics, customs regulations, and industry best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred not essential)
- Experience in a commercial leadership role within freight forwarding and the Australian Market (essential)
