Morethan 11,000 defence industry workers will be required to delivermajor Defence projects in South Australia in the 2040s and DefenceSA is playing a leading role in ensuring the state tackles thechallenge.
The joint State and Commonwealth South Australian Defence IndustryWorkforce and Skills Taskforce Report was released in November 2023detailing targeted initiatives that directly support attracting,skilling and developing the defence industry workforce in SouthAustralia.
This full-time role will work within Defence SA’s Marketingand Communications team primarily supporting the planning,development and implementation of a defence industry workforce andskills strategic communications and outreach plan. This willinvolve event coordination, PR, communications, marketingactivities including campaigns, market research and stakeholderengagement within a cross-functional team to support Defence SA andits associated business portfolios.

Role Purpose/Context:
The Marketing Officer works within the Marketing andCommunications business unit at Defence SA. The Marketing Officerrole has been created in alignment with the South AustralianDefence Industry Workforce and Skills Taskforce Report. The role isprimarily responsible for supporting the planning, development andimplementation of a defence industry workforce and skills strategiccommunications and outreach plan.
Underpinned by audience segmentation, the plan will delivermessaging and a synchronised schedule of communication and outreachopportunities, including a career showcase series demonstrating thediverse workforce currently in defence, integrated into a singleplan for people to engage with. This will be codesigned with theDepartment of Defence and defence industry and provide anengagement and event schedule to assist key stakeholders to forwardplan their activity and focus associated resources.
The role will deliver and coordinate broader agency projects withinthe Marketing and Communications Team on an as needs basis ascapacity allows across marketing, communications and events.
Key selection criteria:
- Knowledge of marketing and communication principles.
- Knowledge of event coordination principles.
- Experience in developing marketing and communication plans.
- Experience in event coordination.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Experience in drafting written communication including publications, speeches, media releases, social media, and website content.
- Experience in the planning and delivery of multifaceted marketing campaigns.
- Demonstrated ability to pro-actively engage with required stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple, concurrent projects within deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to and adapt to changes within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to work under pressure.

Special Conditions
This is a contract / term vacancy of up to 4 years.The incumbent is required to enter into a performance agreement.Work outside of normal hours may be required and the position mayrequire interstate travel involving overnight absences.
