Summary of position

Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service- Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) has an exciting new position as a Media and Events Co-Ordinator.  

You will be responsible for organising and promoting projects, events, and initiatives by creating proactive media opportunities and Events for TAMS-AC. To do this, you’ll research and create engaging content for media, publications, and online channels while predominately working on promotional event opportunities. Your skills will enable you to produce creative and quality content valued by stakeholders and peers. This is a fast-paced setting, and the occasional change of focus and juggling of competing demands will be required.

Primary responsibilities

  • The development and execution of social media strategies to increase brand visibility, user engagement, and community growth across various platforms.
  • Be creative in producing high-quality, engaging content including posts, videos and reels that resonate with our target audience, that are culturally safe and appropriate content.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on social media metrics and trends to optimize performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Engage with users, respond to inquiries, and foster meaningful interactions to cultivate a vibrant and supportive community atmosphere.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, platform updates, and best practices to continuously enhance our digital presence and drive innovation, whilst keeping yourself upskilled in the industry.

Competencies and skills

  • Develops communication objectives in relation to health issues.
  • Prepares publicity and or presentations on health issues.
  • Set up displays on health issues.
  • Gives presentations to community groups on health issues to increase public awareness.
  • Writes material to assist in the promotion of health issues.
  • Undertakes research to make sure that data is correct and current.
  • Work in conjunction with other organisations or government departments.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with instructions and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Passion for community building, user engagement, and digital storytelling.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to evolving priorities.

Qualifications

Qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, health promotion or public health or related field desirable.

Other Relevant information: 

Consent to a National Police Background Check and Working with Children’s Check must be provided prior to confirmation of employment. Employment is conditional pending the outcome of these checks.
