The Position
We are seeking a full time and part time motivated Medical Administration Officer to join our very busy team. The successful applicant will work rostered weekdays including some Saturdays (half day) and Public Holidays as per the Administration Roster. Flexibility around times and days is essential.
Your duties will include:
- Ensuring all patient enquires (in person, via phone, email or fax) are handled in a professional manner
- Cash handling, EFTPOS, banking, invoicing, daily banking reconciliations
- Processing payments – Medicare and Private Billing
- Booking and setting up new patients, patient cycles and review appointments
- Collecting patient information and entering accurate patient data
- Ensuring patient consent forms have been signed and appropriately witnessed
- Arranging medical paperwork for appointments, ensuring the doctors have all the required information, consent forms and current patient referrals that they may need prior to a patient's appointment.
- Booking theatre lists and coordinating with external doctors.
- Billing operations
- Medical typing
Requirements / Essential Criteria
Team fit is really important to us so we are looking for someone with a friendly personality and a great sense of humor
- 1+ year proven Medical Administration experience within a medical administration / reception role
- Professional, mature and empathetic approach when dealing with patients
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry
- Medical terminology and typing
- Experience in processing Medicare and private health fund payments
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and the ability to adapt quickly to in-house patient software
- Ability to handle a high pressure environment and manage stress during busy periods
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- A high standard of personal presentation
- Must be quick to learn and be able to process a high volume of new information
- Highly organised
- A friendly and professional telephone manner
- Flexibility: start and finish times will vary due to clinic operational hours between 7.30am to 5.30pm.
