  • Salary: $97,022 - $126,970 p.a - Temporary Full Time (up to 16 May 2025) - RN/M3 - ASO6 

Please note that as this position is multi-classed as either a RN/M3 or ASO6, the classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.

The Medical Education Officer Role

The Medical Education Officer (RN/M3) in association with the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) and Medical Education Unit (MEU), develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates prevocational junior doctor training initiatives and strategies, within an environment that is supportive of ongoing life-long learning, attention to personal well-being and professional responsibility.

This is achieved by;

  • Identification and analysis of junior doctor needs.
  • Development of education and training programs based on junior doctor needs.
  • Coordination of education and training programs for junior doctors.
  • Identification of and responsive to issues affecting the welfare of junior doctors.
  • Provision of counselling on professional and personal matters to junior medical officers as required.
  • Facilitating attainment of relevant Accreditation Standards.
  • Implementation of evaluation processes.
  • Liaison with key stakeholders in junior doctor training.
  • Collaboration with others involved with prevocational Medical Education both intra and interstate.

Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

The Medical Education Officer (ASO6) contributes to planning, consultation, development, implementation and evaluation of postgraduate education services to EFNLHN, to support Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs) learning environment, in alignment with the training initiatives and strategies of the EFNLHN Medical Education Unit (MEU).

They critically analyse and strategically work through complex training and workforce issues. They support large and complex projects including coordination of projects across the Local Health Network.

Establish sound and effective working relationships within and across government and non-government agencies, and work in partnership with other key stakeholders to achieve outcomes to meet accreditation requirements and enhance the education of TMO’s, to meet the strategic direction of EFNLHN.

Port Lincoln Hospital is the largest hospital in the Eyre and Far North, with 48 beds, and provides a range of services including Emergency, obstetrics/maternity, surgical, general medicine, renal dialysis, medium level chemotherapy, pharmacy, dental and Allied Health.
