Longest established General Practice in Pottsville, with excellent facilities and patient base. Rooms for 4 doctors (currently 4 FTE), working within integrated allied health setting. One full time Practice Manager, 2 part time nurses and 4 Medical Receptionists.
About the role
The Medical Receptionist is a crucial first point of contact for our business. As such, the following qualities are considered essential:
- Covid Vaccination is essential as we are within a NSW Health Building
- Include a cover letter with your CV when applying
- The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to communication with a diverse range of people, acknowledging and understanding that patients sometimes present in distress/upset/unwell
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work positively and productively within a team environment
- Available to work 2 to 3 days per week including participating in a Saturday morning roster and flexibility work extra shifts to cover leave.
The following additional qualities are considered most desirable:
- Minimum 2 years previous experience as a Medical Receptionist in General Practice or similar administrative position
- Previous experience in the use of Best Practice
- Working knowledge of Windows based software systems (eg, Word, Excel)
- An understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule
- An understanding of medical terminology, medical and allied health professional organisations
- An understanding or experience in General Practice accreditation and standards
Key duties involve:
- Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner
- Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically
- Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
- Liaise with GPs, other health professionals and their staff
- Make appointments
- Fax, scan, and file documents electronically
- Some early morning, evening and Saturday morning work will be required
- Place orders for stationery and/or clinical supplies as directed or monitor stationery and/or clinical supply levels and place orders as required maintaining a working supply at all times
- Book and organise staff and/or doctors meetings as directed
- Contribute equitably to maintaining the cleanliness of the practice
- Maintain practice dress standards
- Any other administrative duties as directed by the Practice Manager or Principal doctor
- Handling of cash, EFTPOS and other payments
