Who are we looking for to join our team?
Previous experience in a day hospital setting is highly desired and will help you hit the ground running!
Ultimately, we’re hoping our new team member comes to us with some experience working in a healthcare setting (specialist rooms, surgery or day hospital experience a real bonus!). Most importantly we are looking for someone who is proactive, personable and enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of our patients who come into our centre for chemotherapy & immunotherapy treatments.

About the role:
We have a new opportunity for a Medical Administration Officer to join our cancer treatment hospital within the Tennyson Centre in Kurralta Park. This position reports to the Administration Manager with the overall purpose of providing efficient, effective and responsive administration services, ensuring delivery of exceptional standards to customer service for patients, Visiting Medical Officers, Nurses and all other internal and external contacts.
Key Responsibilities:
Working as part of a large admin team to support a large group of doctors daily.
Rotating duties of front reception and back office
Welcoming patients, booking scans, appointments, treatments into the day hospital, MBO and HF billing
Back-office admin tasks including answering a busy switchboard.
Booking new patient referrals, monitoring daily email inbox, prepping of daily clinics, incoming mail, referral reminders and other general admin duties
Welcoming patients, collecting and entering personal details
Scheduling appointments
Triaging referrals to on-site specialists
Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
Entering and processing patient billing and balancing daily banking
Monitoring and assessing the administration care path of all patients
Maintaining and managing patient information
Supporting Icon’s WHS Officers and committees to effectively carry out their responsibilities
Skills & Experience:
Experience in a front line health administration role including the use of electronic management systems. An understanding of Medicare and health insurance funds would be an advantage.
