The Role
We’re currently looking for a Medico-Legal Clerk who will facilitate the timely release of clinical information to legal agencies, health providers and eligible applicants whilst ensuring compliance with policy. This position also participates in the invoicing of clients and contributing to the collection of statistics.
The Medico-Legal Clerk performs:
- The timely release of clinical information to legal agencies, health providers and eligible applicants.
- To record accurate and detailed medico-legal statistics to enable medico-legal activity reporting as required by Ministry of Health.
- The invoicing and collection of fees associated with medico-legal requests in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines and circulars.
- Scanning of clinical records for legal requests. If necessary, liaise with the Clinic NUM or Health Records Clerk if the health record is currently held at a Correctional Centre.
- To ensure requests from the NSW Ombudsman within the stipulated timeframe.
- Provide advice on matters relating to the release of clinical information to Health Service staff where appropriate.
- Undertake quality checks for medico-legal procedures as directed.
- Access PAS to check and update record location details.
- Update HP Records Manager to reflect medico-legal activities and to track the progress of requests and file information in the patient’s health record.
- File health records in accordance with the terminal digit filing (TDF) system in the primary filing area.
