Messaging Systems Support Officer within Digital Customer Services Branch.This role will offer:

The role reports directly to the Messaging Services' team leader and is responsible for managing and maintaining our department's messaging environment. As a Messaging
Support Officer, you will be a critical member of the team responsible for managing and maintaining our department's messaging environment. Your technical experience in Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange online will be instrumental in establishing and enforcing standards for our systems, ensuring that support teams comply with these guidelines and deliver optimal performance.

DPS has over 1,000 staff and provides a diverse range of services and functions to support the Australian Parliament and custodianship of Australian Parliament House (APH).We are looking for a person to assist in the work of Messaging Services team within Digital Customer Services branch, the right candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision, in a team environment and individually, and have proven experience in supporting
Messaging Systems in enterprise environment.DPS is looking for staff that contribute to the positive workplace culture of DPS and apply practical professional experience when working with a high performing team. Applicants should be highly organised and have experience working within fast paced operational environment to successfully support ICT systems for APH and its occupants.
Job Specific Requirements:- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.
- Experience in deploying, configuring and operating ICT Infrastructure using Microsoft Exchange 2016, 2019 and Exchange Online.
- Experience in deploying and configuring email security and authentication measures using SPF, DKIM, DMARC and Microsoft Exchange Online Protection
- Ability to analyse mail delivery and security platforms and services to achieve all of their agreed performance targets and service levels.
- Experience in prioritising and diagnosing incidents, root cause analaysis, escalating unresolve issues, coordinating responses to incident reports, minimising negative impacts and restoring service as quickly as possible
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and produce clear and concise written reports and technical documentation
- Ability to guide and mentor junior staff members and collaborate with other teams
Desirable- Cisco and Fortimail email appliance administration
- Cloud (Azure) and / or Exchange related certification or qualification

Immediate supervisor: Team Leader, Messaging ServicesUnder limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification.The Messaging Officer is required to undertake work that is complex in nature, and work under limited direction with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability. The role includes using both initiative and judgment in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. The Messaging Officer PSL6 provides detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice in relation to complex problems and may assist in strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development. The Messaging Officer may have a considerable level of client contact in relation to difficult or sensitive issues and may liaise with a range of stakeholders in a representational role. Work may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows.The duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the management of Parliamentary messaging services such as email/calendar in addition to the Department's remote and mobile computing services.
- Provide support and advice directly to parliamentary computing users (including Parliamentarians, their staff, and staff of the Parliamentary departments) for complex problems and queries relating to messaging services.
- Independently, or as part of a team, review technical standards for accuracy, currency, and the need for improvement.
- Participate in the delivery of projects and policy development in relation to ICT messaging initiatives.
- Liaise and negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders (including vendors).
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, internal/external stakeholders, and service providers to ensure positive customer outcomes.
- Manage, mentor, and provide guidance for team members and colleagues.
- Liaise and negotiate with other areas of DPS and other parliamentary departments and APS agencies.

SalaryCurrently, the salary range for this position is $94,259 - $105,941 per annum.
Conditions of EmploymentEmployment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
- Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
- Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
