Mamamia is on the lookout for a Morning Editor to join our best-in-class Editorial team.
But first, here's a bit about us.
Mamamia is Australia's largest women's company.
Our core purpose is to make the world a better place for women and girls. That's what guides everything we do. And, uh, we do a lot. Mamamia reaches seven million women each month across our written, video, audio, and social platforms and we have the largest women's podcast network in the world.
What we're looking for.
As the Morning Editor for Mamamia, you will play a pivotal role in driving the editorial direction and content creation for our website and social channels. You will be responsible for overseeing the morning shift (which is 6am-2pm) and leading a team of content producers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, engaging content that resonates with our diverse audience.
Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:
- Direct morning shift content production, ensuring alignment with Mamamia's tone and daily topics.
- Edit articles, providing constructive feedback for enhanced content quality.
- Curate homepage for a well-balanced content mix.
- Coordinate and pitch to Apple News and Google Showcase, sending push notifications when necessary.
- Monitor site and story performance, utilising data insights for an effective distribution strategy.
- Stay updated on news cycles and trending topics across various media and social platforms.
- Generate original ideas aligned with audience interests, overseeing the daily EDM and writing high-quality articles.
- Attend planning meetings for content alignment and participate in cross-promotional opportunities with Mamamia podcasts.
- Mentor junior news writers, providing timely and relevant feedback to enhance overall site performance.
Now, a bit about you.
- 3-5 years experience in a digital publication with a strong understanding of creating content that drives traffic to site while staying true to a brand's core purpose.
- A team player who takes ownership of responsibilities, communicates effectively and gives and receives feedback with honesty, respect, curiosity, and openness.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritise the needs and perspectives of our audience and commercial partners in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt a measured approach and drive process improvement initiatives and solve problems creatively in a fast-paced environment.
- Available and committed to working the morning shifts (6am - 2pm).
Life at Mamamia.
We're fast-paced, innovative, and deeply collaborative. Mamamia feels small enough that you can create real and tangible change, but has the structure to support your ideas with experienced and industry-leading teams, and deliver them to an audience of millions of women every month.
We have a startup spirit within a scaled-up business structure and we're incredibly proud of the culture and community we've created. Our team is inclusive, passionate, and fun (..although apparently, not very modest about it); many lifelong friendships and connections have been forged in Mamamia HQ.
But enough about us, let's talk about how we can help you. At Mamamia, we want to support all of our staff in kicking as many career goals as possible so that's why we'll support you in getting involved in the things you're actually interested in. Think you might want to broaden your scope? Get exposure to another team in the business? Try something new and develop your skills? We'll help you make it happen and cheer you on the whole way.
On top of all that, Mamamia also offers:
- Flexible working conditions
- The opportunity to celebrate your birthday and ongoing dedication with additional leave days
- Paid parental leave
- Paid volunteer leave to get involved with our charity partners
- The opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company and help us make the world a better place for women and girls.
One more thing!
