Your Role and Responsibilities
The National Account Manager is responsible for achieving profitable sales growth through creating and executing business plans for two of Hewitt’s major retail grocery accounts. This role is accountable for maximising customer and category performance, developing and maintaining strong influential relationships with key customers and collaborating internally with key stakeholders to deliver first class insights and mutually beneficial solutions.
This role is predominately customer facing and will drive the customer agenda and provide strategic and operational day-to-day leadership of the assigned customer, including devising and executing mutually beneficial Joint Business Plans that will deliver results aligned with the business sales targets and strategy.
Your Primary Responsibilities will Include
- Develop and maintain long term strategic business relationships with Hewitt’s key retail accounts, to achieve sales and profit targets, and growth of business within existing accounts.
- Develop an understanding of the customer’s environment e.g. external trends, competitors and customers current and future needs, and leverage this to build shopper centric customer plans to drive mutual growth.
- Develop formal annual customer and channel plans to achieve ambitious growth targets. Lead the category review process to enhance product range visibility and availability, tracking performance against an agreed Joint Business Plan.
- Lead the development and execution of customer specific solutions e.g. assortment, merchandising, activation, pricing and promotion which achieve customer, category and business objectives.
- Leverage insights to influence customers to implement solutions to identify new opportunities that will deliver results that are beneficial for both customer, category and business.
- Plan & execute NPD and core ranging, and promotional plan in line with brand and customer strategy, optimising trade spend and partnering with customers on key strategic initiatives.
- Proactively review sales performance and make recommendations to improve sales and profitability.
- Develop and manage accurate and timely forecasts using a variety of inputs from both consumption and shipment perspectives, adopting a continuous improvement mindset.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve sales and profitability growth.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive (4+ years) as a National Account Manager within a retail grocery environment, preferably with a background in FMCG and/or meat protein category management experience.
- Previous experience working with Coles, Harris Farm or other major grocery retailers.
- Strong sales experience that includes selling, negotiating and leveraging insights to deliver tailored customer plans, mutually beneficial solutions, overcome objections, demonstrate resilience and manage conflict with a positive and confident mind set and achieving sales to maximise mutual value.
- Experience in partnering with Category, and using and deploying the fundamentals of Category Leadership, drive category growth and achieve category captaincy.
- Strong and proven commercial acumen with the capacity to identify commercial opportunities, deliver strategic and profitable outcomes and understanding of P&L’s.
- Must be a strong team player and listener, with ability to collaborate, influence and lead to deliver and execute on key projects.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time efficiently
- Outstanding communication, presentation skills and persuasive skills.
- Strong work ethic, continuous improvement mind set and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of operating and supply chain processes and efficiencies within a food manufacturing environment, preferably with a background in meat retail product production and MSA and Ausmeat specifications.
